
Infrastructure Ontario has invited three teams to respond to a request for proposals (RFP) to design, build, finance, and maintain the new Ontario Science Centre project.
The teams were selected from the request for qualifications (RFQ) stage, which was posted publicly in May 2024 and closed in August 2024.
The evaluation process included criteria such as design and construction capability, experience, qualified personnel, and financial capacity to deliver a project of this scope. The pre-qualified teams to be invited to bid on the RFP are:
DiscoverON Partners
- Design team: Cumulus Architects Inc., and Daoust Lestage Lizotte Stecker
- Construction team: Pomerleau Inc.
EllisDon Infrastructure
- Design team: Belvedere Architecture and BDP Quadrangle Architects Ltd.
- Construction team: EllisDon Corporation
Ontario Science Partner
- Design team: Hariri Pontarini Architects, Snohetta Architecture, Landscape Architecture P.C.
- Construction team: Sacyr Canada Inc., and Amico Design Build Inc.

I would hope that the winning team would consider making the renovation LEED and WELL demonstrating our commitment to the environment and the people that will occupy and visit the space. What would really be fantastic is if the ‘new’ science centre included the built environment. there is a lot of science that goes into ensuring a building doesn’t fall down as well as the human science of how we respond and interact with the built environment. This is a grand opportunity to create a destination that goes beyond students and bring in a greater part of the population to experience and learn
