Wood industry launches career site

With support from the Canadian government, Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) has launched a resource tool providing information on national career opportunities.

TheGreenestWorkforce.ca provides information and resources for jobs in all venues of the foresting industry including skilled trades, woodlands operations, and corporate office opportunities.

FPAC unveiled its Vision2020 initiative which aims to complete the following by 2020:

increase the forestry workforce by at least 60,000 employees;
generate $20 billion in economic activity; and
improve the sector’s environmental footprint by 35 per cent.

The organization is also beginning a competition that will award eight students with a Green Dream Internship at a forest products company. Applicants will submit a video explaining why they are best-suited for the internship and a short list will be compiled of video entries receiving the most online votes.
