Understanding Warranty Legislation and How to Avoid Top Claims
Presented by: Brendan Bobby – Travelers Insurance Company of Canada
This presentation will provide awareness and understanding of the origin of warranty legislation, and how third party warranty programs work.
The technical portion of the presentation will review top warranty claims, and interesting/unusual claims. There will be a slideshow of assorted photos to illustrate the damages caused, and interactive discussions about these situations will shed light on why the failures occur, and how to prevent them.
Brendan Bobby is a Senior Technical Representative with Travelers Canada, the industry-leading provider of 2-5-10 mandatory home warranty insurance in the province of B.C. In his role with Travelers, he provides education and technical support for builders and developers, as well as handling of new home warranty claims of medium to complex severity. In addition, he is also an instructor for the Canadian Home Builders Association of BC’s core competency course program for new builder licensees, and is a Red Seal Carpenter.
This presentation is in collaboration with the Architectural Institue of British Columbia (AIBC) Vancouver Island Chapter, and registered AIBC Members will receive 1 AIBC CES Core Learning Unit for attending.
