Edmonton-based HIP Architects has joined global firm Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning under a new agreement.

Under the agreement, HIP’s partners, Stewart Inglis and Randy Krebes, will become principals at Kasian. Additionally, 15 members of HIP staff will move to Commerce Place headquarters in Edmonton.

Justin Lacey, Kasian marketing director, explained some of the merger’s benefits to Construction Canada Online.

“Combined, Kasian and HIP have increased service and delivery capabilities, an increased capacity in the Edmonton market, an expanded client and consultant network, and a broadened reach in the community,” he said.

One of the main goals for the new, larger firm is to extend its presence throughout the Northern Alberta region.

“With this merger, Kasian has laid the foundation for continued success in Edmonton, and throughout Alberta,” said Jim Ebbels, senior principal at Kasian. “As the integration progresses, we expect our clients to benefit almost immediately from our increased capabilities, and our employees from enhanced, global career opportunities.”

In addition to these goals, the firm will pursue larger commissioned projects and broaden its respective expertise in building types such as industrial, sport and recreation, and healthcare, explained Lacey.
