Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit (LRT), also known as Line 5, is a midtown connection from east to west of Toronto and is one of the first large-scale transit projects in the city.

The new subway line will have 25 stations and is about 19 km (11.8 miles).

Phase two consultations are now underway, to gather feedback from the public and stakeholders on the environmental, social, cultural, and economic impacts of the project, as part of the transit and rail project assessment process.

Apart from creating jobs in construction, the project will also decrease travel time by 60 per cent, and link to 54 bus routes, three Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway stations, as well as GO lines.
