International engineering firm Thornton Tomasetti has opened its first Canadian office in Toronto as part of a strategic plan to strengthen and expand its presence across this country.
The office will allow the firm to better support clients and partners it has collaborated with for more than 30 years in Canada, including architects, developers, and consultants. It will be managed locally by associate principal Chris Minerva.
Thornton Tomasetti currently has high-profile projects underway, such as the structural design and façade optimization analysis for Rogers Place—an 18,500-seat arena for the National Hockey League’s (NHL’s) Edmonton Oilers. The firm is also providing structural design services for the expansion of BMO Field, Toronto’s professional soccer stadium.
“Expanding into Canada is a key strategic initiative of our five-year plan,” said the firm’s CEO, Thomas Scarangello. “As we look to grow our business, Canada is a natural fit. We have considerable project experience there and an extensive client base. It is also a market in which our services are recognizable and valued.”
