Alberta college facility wins wood design award

An expanded trades and technologies centre at Lethbridge College in Alberta recently received top honours at the Prairie Wood Design Awards for the institutional building category. The Trades Technologies Renewal and Innovation Project (TTRIP) adds 15,793 m2 (170,000 sf) of program space to the college, and features both structural and design elements in timber.

Wood projects rise to new heights at B.C. awards

WoodWorks British Columbia announced the winners of the 2018 Wood Design Awards at the Vancouver Convention Centre, honouring excellence in wood building and design, and leadership and innovation in wood use. Presented in association with the Canadian Wood Council (CWC), this year’s awards were dominated by innovative architectural and structural design in taller and larger mass timber buildings.

WoodWorks B.C. names wood design nominees

Last week, WoodWorks British Columbia, a division of the Canadian Wood Council, announced its nominees for the 14th annual Wood Design Awards. More than 100 projects and industry professionals are recognized across 14 categories, including the newly introduced Prefabricated Structural Wood division, which honours creative design and innovative use of prefabricated wood systems, components, and modules in a variety of building types.
