The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA), and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) have released a user guide to the 2011 North American Fenestration Standard/Specification for Windows, Doors, and Skylights (NAFS).

NAFS User Guide serves as a non-mandatory, advisory document. Through commentary, examples, and illustrations, it provides information on the standard’s applications.

A report released by the Council of Canadian Academies suggests the country has a long way to go in terms of achieving sustainability through information and communication technologies (ICTs).

The document, “Enabling Sustainability in an Interconnected World,” points out Canada is a leader in ICT research and development, but domestic businesses are falling behind in the adoption of various technologies.

May building stays stable

Canada’s housing starts for the month of May remain stable, reports Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).

Regionally, Atlantic Canada, Québec, and British Columbia saw slight increases, Ontario remained steady, and the Prairies saw a decline. Overall, the seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) was 198,324 in May, which is slightly up from 196,687 in April.
