Canada invests in healthier homes and buildings

Last week, Jim Carr, Canada’s natural resources minister, announced a $182-million investment to increase energy efficiency and address climate change by improving how homes and buildings are designed, renovated, and constructed. The federal government is working with provinces, territories, and industry on energy code development, data sharing, research and development, and market transformation strategies for the building sector.

Infrastructure report: More integration needed

The Mowat Centre, an independent Ontarian public-policy think-tank, published its latest report, “From the Ground Up: The Role of Local Governments in Building Canada’s Economic Infrastructure.” In it, the group examines the link between public infrastructure, economic competitiveness, and the role of local government, while providing recommendations on how best to address Canada’s infrastructure gap.
