Registration for CSC Winnipeg’s PCD and Specifier ends soon

The Winnipeg Chapter of CSC is offering two education courses this fall—Principles of Construction Documentation (PCD) and Specifier.

Held from October 25 to 29, the PCD course will be taught on consecutive days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at ft3 Architecture Landscape Interior Design. The introductory program will enable participants to have a better understanding of construction documentation (specifications, drawings, and schedules), products, bidding procedures, and contracts. It is also a prerequisite for the Technical Representative, Specifier, or Construction Contract Administrator courses.

Registration must be received by Friday, October 6. Contact Brenda Thompson at the earliest.

The Specifier is a seven consecutive day course from November 4 to 10. Having replaced the Specifier 1 and Specifier 2 programs, it is a comprehensive overview of the construction specification profession in Canada.

The course will be taught at Architecture 49 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On weekends, it moves to Winnipeg Construction Association.

Students will have a solid grasp of a specifier’s role, legal issues including contracts, bidding, and disputes, writing style, and how to close out a project. A wide range of professional scenarios are explained, often using real-life examples.

Last date to register is October 16. For more information, e-mail Brenda Thompson.
