The Toronto Chapter of CSC is holding a pair of education courses this January, but the time for registration is quickly drawing to a close.
The Construction Contract Administration (CCA) course will be held Mondays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the RJC Engineering offices downtown (144 Front St. West), kicking off on January 16. The program’s objective is to improve construction contract administration by providing education related to the administration and enforcement of the contract requirements during the construction phase. Led by Ted Katsoris, CCCA, classes include an overview of the construction industry participants, bidding requirements and processes, alternatives and substitutions, standards and regulatory influences, site activities, execution of the work, and dispute resolution.
Registration[1] is $500 for members and $700 for non-members, plus HST.
The Technical Representative (TR) course will also be held Mondays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., but they will take place at Alumicor Limited’s offices (29 Humberline Dr.) and begin January 9. The course will provide a better understanding of contract documents and bidding procedures, product/material representation, professionalism, and ethics. It offers a new depth of understanding and explanation of concepts beyond what was introduced in the Principles of Construction Documentation (PCD) course. The course, led by Steve Gusterson, CTR, covers the project manual and how to understand drawings, role of the technical representative and consultants, product selection process, material selection and substitutions, effective technical assistance, product presentation techniques, info management, contract liability, workmanship, quality, codes, and standards.
Registration[2] is $500 for members and $700 for non-members, plus HST.
Those interested in taking the PCD or Specification Writing courses should contact the Toronto Chapter’s interim education certification chair, Kazim (Kaz) Kanani[3].
