The governments of Quebec and Canada, the municipalities of Petite-Rivière-Saint-François and Accès Petite-Rivière recently marked the start of construction of Habitations Petite-Rivière. This six-building project will provide 20 social and affordable housing units for families and independent seniors in Petite-Rivière-Saint-François.

The project represents an investment of $8.8 million, of which the Government of Quebec is contributing nearly $5.2 million, partly through the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ), and the Government of Canada is contributing almost $1.3 million through the second Canada-Quebec Rapid Housing Initiative Agreement.

The SHQ provides affordable and low-rental housing and offers a range of assistance programs to support the construction, renovation, and adaptation of homes, as well as access to homeownership.
