The Canadian Board for Harmonized Construction Codes (CBHCC) recently invited code users, the codes community, and the public to participate in the fall 2024 public review of proposed changes to the 2020 editions of the National Model Codes.
The proposed changes in this public review address specific topics in the National Building Code of Canada (NBC), the National Fire Code of Canada (NFC), the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings (NECB), and the National Plumbing Code of Canada. Some of the topics included are fenestration, building envelope, encapsulated mass timber construction, and updates to documents, amongst others. For the entire list of topics, click here[2].
The CBHCC will decide which changes will be published in the next edition of the National Model Codes based on the recommendations of the code development committees.
This national public review runs from October 21, 2024, to December 19, 2024.
