A library, a house, and a school in Haiti are three of the winning projects in this year’s Ontario Wood Design Awards.

Recognizing people and organizations advancing the use of wood in construction through design excellence and innovation, the 11th annual Wood Works awards competition drew 70 nominations.

“Design professionals in Ontario are specifying wood in a wider variety of building types,” said Marianne Berube, Wood Works Ontario’s executive director. “This is an exciting trend because the benefits of wood construction are so significant. Increased wood use supports Ontario’s second largest economic engine and has positive outcomes for forest-dependent communities across the province.”

This year’s winners included:
• Interior Wood Design: Salvation Army Harbour Light (Toronto)–Diamond and Schmitt Architects and Read Jones Christoffersen Consulting Engineers;
• Multi-unit Wood Design: Lippincott Living (Toronto)–Bradley Netkin Architect and Hamann Engineering;
