Ontario architects awarded

Last month, the winners of the 2014 Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) Awards were announced, honouring projects from single-family homes to large redevelopments.

The award-winning centre features a 6000-m2 (64,580-sf) vegetative ‘ribbon,’ which is made up of a park, garden spaces, undulating green roof, and a bio-filter wall, to form a single system of connected outdoor and indoor spaces.[2]

Under the Design Excellence category, 15 projects were selected from 170 submissions based on the following criteria:

The 15 projects earning Ontario architects Design Excellence awards include:

“This year’s award juries have chosen a diverse group of winners exemplifying architecture that creatively responds to the needs of the communities and clients,” OAA’s president, Bill Birdsell, told Construction Canada Online.

More than 30 winners will be awarded in nine categories at the ceremony taking part in Montréal on May 9 as part of the annual OAA conference. Additionally, the public is now able to cast its votes for the OAA’s People’s Choice Award. Voters can choose one of the 15 Design Excellence winners to be the recipient.
