The Steinbach Pistons’ game against the Selkirk Steelers marked the unofficial opening of the Southeast Event Centre (SEC), a long-awaited multi-use facility in downtown Steinbach, Man., designed by Graham Construction.

The SEC is designed to be a hub for sports, entertainment, and community events. It offers a 2,400-seat hockey rink that can transform into a 4,000-person venue for concerts, trade shows, and other large gatherings.

In addition to the rink, the SEC features a full-sized gymnasium with a walking track, conference rooms, an atrium, and a restaurant with an outdoor patio.

The facility is expected to enhance community engagement, create new opportunities for local events, and attract visitors to the region. It is set to become a central gathering place, supporting everything from sports tournaments to graduations.
