The Site C Clean Energy Project (Site C) is set to be the third dam and hydroelectric generating station on the Peace River in northeast B.C.
Site C will provide 1,100 megawatts (MW) of capacity and produce about 5,100 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity annually. This is enough energy to power about 450,000 homes per year in B.C.
At the dam site, road maintenance is ongoing, and work will continue in the right bank drainage tunnel, left bank drainage adit, and dam buttress galleries. The construction of a drainage channel and lock block wall on the left bank is nearing completion, and foundations are being poured for permanent dam safety monitoring equipment.
The installation of the cable tray, transformer assembly, electrical cables, and equipment at the powerhouse is underway.
Additionally, work is ongoing at the permanent fishway and reservoir area.
The Site C project began construction in 2015 and will be completed this year. It will be a clean, reliable, and affordable electricity source for more than 100 years.
