Construction has started on a new acute care hospital in Corner Brook, N.L. The seven-storey, 55,742-m2 (600,000-sf) facility will be connected to the long-term care home currently under construction.
Designed by B+H Architects and Parkin Architects, the hospital will have 164 beds.
The Corner Brook Health Partnership has been selected to design, build, finance, and maintain the new hospital with an estimated contract of $750 million. The partnership consists of Plenary Group, PCL Construction, Marco Services Ltd, and Johnson Controls Canada.
“Once open, acute care services will be offered in a modern hospital, one of the most efficient hospitals in Canada,” said John Haggie, the health and community services minister.
Construction is anticipated to be completed in 2023.
