International surface standards under public review

Two surfacing material standards—one revised and one new—from the International Surface Fabricators Association (ISFA) are now in the public comment phase of development.

The existing ISFA 2-01 (2007), Classification and Standards for Solid Surfacing, was updated by industry members and has been republished as ISFA 2-01 (2013), Classification and Standards for Solid Surfacing Material. Further to this, ISFA 3-01 (2013), Classification and Standards for Quartz Surfacing Material, has been developed.

These two draft standards will now be in the public comment stages of development until October 15. Once comments are closed, the standards will be revised and then published and approved by ISFA board members.

“The public comment phase for ISFA standards is important because decorative surfacing standards need to represent the consensus for best practices in the industry,” ISFA’s executive director Chuck Sawyer told Construction Canada Online. “By soliciting and incorporating input from a vast array of industry professionals through the public comment process, we can be sure that the ISFA standards reflect the best that the decorative surfacing has to offer.”
