Winnipeg will be the next location to see the inclusion of an energy-efficient Holmes community housing development, spearheaded by contractor and television personality, Mike Holmes.

The Holmes Group develops sustainable, high-performance, and healthy residential communities across the country.

“It’s about building smart and living well,” Holmes explained. “We’re working with the land and building homes that make sense—for homeowners and the environment.”

The group’s Winnipeg project—The Yards at Fort Rouge—includes sustainable elements such as:

  • district geothermal heating and cooling reducing carbon footprint;
  • insulated walls with an R-value of at least 30;
  • insulated roofs with R-40 rating;
  • EnergyStar-certified appliances; and
  • triple-pane low E argon gas filled windows.

“It’s about building smart and living well,” Holmes explained. “We’re working with the land and building homes that make sense—for homeowners and the environment.”

The townhome units are connected in a walkable community with access to amenities, transit, and greenspace.
