Halifax’s mixed-use complex receives Atlantic design recognition

The architectural associations of Atlantic Canada recently revealed the recipients of the 2024 Atlantic Architectural Design Excellence Awards (AADEA) which were presented on June 25, in St. John’s.
The objective of the AADEA is to recognize, celebrate, and showcase architectural design excellence for projects completed in Atlantic Canada.
The projects recognized showcased outstanding collaborative outcomes between architects and their clients.
The recipients of the Award of Excellence are as follows:
- Cape Breton Retreat by Nicholas Fudge Architects: Single-family Residential
- The Wellington by Acre Architects: Multi-family Residential
- Queen’s Marque by MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects: Commercial
- Highland Village Interpretive Centre by Abbott Brown Architects: Public/Institutional
- Delmore “Buddy” Daye Learning Institute by Fathom Studio: Diversified—Renovations/Adaptations
- Yarmouth Main Street Phase Two by Fathom Studio: Diversified—Renovations/Adaptations
The recipients of the Award of Merit are as follows:
- Thicket Studio by Abbott Brown Architects: Single—Family Residential
- Meet in the Middle House by Peter Braithwaite Studio: Single—Family Residential
- Bioscience Manufacturing Incubator by Open Practice Inc.: Commercial
- The George by Fathom Studio: Multi-family Residential
- Diamond Bailey Healing Centre by Fathom Studio: Public/Institutional
- Dalhousie Fountain School of Performing Arts by Lydon Lynch Architects & Thomas Payne Architects: Public/Institutional
