Formerly known as Downsview Airport, the site will undergo a 149-ha (370-acres), $30-billion transformation by Northcrest Developments and be renamed YZD.

The site will be transformed into seven new neighborhoods over the next 30 years. Set to welcome more than 55,000 residents, YZD will include more than 2.6 million m2 (28 million sf) of residential space, 650,321 m2 (7 million sf) of commercial and cultural spaces, and nearly 29.9 ha (74 acres) of parks, green and open spaces, including a reimagined 2-km (1.2-miles) runway.

Each neighbourhood will have its distinct character yet will share amenities, public spaces, and community infrastructure, and will prioritize walkability, transit connectivity, and sustainable design.
