A new European-style food hall recently opened at a restored heritage industrial building in downtown Toronto featuring a diverse range of food from the city’s most loved restaurants.

The 5,109 m2 (55,000 sf) space has been repurposed by Woodcliffe Landmark Properties in collaboration with Diamond Schmitt. Waterworks will host more than 20 different food stalls offering curated culinary favourites. It will also feature 1,114 m2 (12,000 sf) of private event spaces and two standalone spaces.

The massive original pitched ceiling embedded with oversized skylights and new 8.8 m (29 ft) tall windows flood the space with natural light. Reclaimed wood from the original floor has been used to create a mosaic spanning the height of the main stairwell wall.

The space also features a 4.5 m (15 ft) deep, 1,300 m2 (14,000 sf) basement excavation beneath the building contains the back-of-house amenities, washrooms, delivery, dish, storage, and garbage areas.

The food hall opened its doors to visitors on July 3.
