Earlier this summer, renovations to Quinte Health Care Belleville General hospital in Ontario were completed.

Designed by Kasian Architecture Ontario Incorporated, the $32-million renovation and expansion of Belleville General’s ER and lab departments added 7432 m(80,000 sf) of new space. Additionally, areas were established for services including:

Phases Two and Three were wrapped up with these new developments, while Phase One was completed by Kasian in 2010, with a $75-million renovation and addition of the Charlotte Sills Wing.

All three phases employed evidence-based design (EBD) methods with a focus on improving the patient/family and staff experience, and increasing natural daylighting. Lean design processes also resulted in standardized clinical rooms maximizing patient privacy, and optimizing flow throughout.
