Last week, representatives from five architecture firms from Denmark were in Toronto participating in the From Denmark to Canada event.
For three days, Canadian and Danish attendees participated in the “Green Living & Building” programming, which wrapped-up the event on Friday, September 19, with the opening of the Contemporary Danish Architecture exhibition at Brickworks Holcim Gallery. Additionally, the Contemporary Architecture Symposium took place, with representatives from each firm addressing design themes—such as housing, urban development, and workplace—and participating in a Q&A period.
The five Danish firms represented were:
● 3XN;
● CEBRA;
● Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter;
● Henning Larsen Architects; and
● schmidt hammer lassen architects.
Additionally, a Canadian chapter of the Active House Alliance—an organization promoting healthy, energy-efficient solutions for buildings—was officially launched during From Denmark to Canada. The Canadian chapter will be led by Great Gulf Group’s Tad Putyra, a founder of the global Active House Alliance and part of the team who constructed the country’s first Active House in 2013.
