The Vancouver Chapter of CSC is hosting a ‘back-to-basics’ talk about fireproofing on Thursday, April 7.
Presented by Ron van Frankfoort (Carboline Company/AD Fire Protection), the luncheon session explores fireproofing in design and construction, addressing questions on why and when it is required, and what the testing requirements, certification processes, and ULC classifications are. A brief explanation of the different types of cementitious and intumescent types of fireproofing materials will be carried out, as well as a discussion on where each type of product should be specified and used. This talk will also include a review of the different types of finish levels for intumescent fireproofing and photos of different types of applications.
The event gets underway at the Sandman Hotel (180 West Georgia St.) at 11:30 a.m. with a full-course self-serve buffet style, followed by chapter business and the presentation, which will conclude by 1:30 p.m. Register online[1]; the cost is $38 for pre-registered CSC members and $48 for non-members, plus GST.
