The CSC community is mourning the loss of David Boyle, FCSC, CTR, former president, who passed on January 31, 2024, at Hamilton General Hospital due to complications following surgery. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and profound contributions to both CSC and his extended family, marked by an exceptional journey of leadership and unwavering commitment.
Boyle, who joined CSC in 2000, and quickly earned his CTR designation in 2001, was celebrated for his leadership, transforming the Grand Valley Chapter, of which he was a member, and significantly contributing to CSC’s growth. His tenure included roles as chapter chair and director, where he was pivotal in managing day-to-day operations and organizing events such as the Connections Café and golf tournaments. He also co-chaired Conference 2014 in Kitchener, Ont., and was integral to its overall success.
Ascending to the role of 4th vice-president of CSC’s executive council in 2013, Boyle’s journey through the ranks were marked by a balanced leadership approach, prioritizing the well-being of the association and its members. His commitment to CSC remained steadfast even beyond his official duties, evidenced by his voluntary co-chairing of CSC Conference 2023, and upon request of the executive council, he together with the team successfully delivered the conference a year earlier in 2022, marking the first in-person conference post-pandemic.
Boyle’s commitment to professional excellence was recognized with several awards, including the Chapter Award of Merit, Program Directors Award, and National Award of Merit. His induction into the CSC College of Fellows on May 23, 2019, in Regina, stood as a crowning achievement, reflecting high esteem in which he was held within the community.
Beyond CSC, as a distinguished technical sales representative for W.R. Meadows of Canada, celebrating 25 years of service in 2023, Boyle was known for his integrity and professionalism, earning the respect of his peers industry-wide, as well as the title of “Salesperson of the Year” in 2002.
CSC’s 1st vice-president, Russell Snow, FCSC, CTR, CSP, and sales manager/product group manager building envelope for W.R. Meadows Inc., remembered Boyle not only as a dedicated professional but as a close friend whose attitude toward life and work deeply influenced those around him.
“He was always there when needed, and we shared so many laughs over the years… On many occasions, we talked about priorities, and although work is important, first and foremost, it was family. David had taught me that.”
Remembered not just as a dedicated professional, but as a person with an unparalleled attitude, Boyle left an indelible mark in both the professional and charitable realms. Notably, his presentation of a donation exceeding $6,000 to Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), all of which was raised at CSC Conference 2022. This contribution was the largest single donation ever received by BACA’s Railway City Chapter.
Boyle is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nancy, his sons Sean (Chayli) and Jordan (Ashley), and his grandson Carter Kendrick James. His legacy of leadership, compassion, and commitment to family and community will continue to inspire future generations.
