CSC Montréal: Geothermal discussions and the Specifier course in French

by | March 3, 2017 3:08 pm

CSC’s Montréal Chapter will use the month of March to host a dinner discussion on geothermal energy and kick off Canada’s first-ever Rédacteur de devis course (i.e. Specifier) in French.

For the first event, Patrick Lambert will lead a presentation entitled, “Géothermie: Principes et enjeux pour les spécifications” at l’ITHQ (Inst. de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec) on Wednesday, March 15. Register here[1] or contact Isabelle Buisson[2] with any questions.

The 14-class Specifier course begins March 17, running Fridays from 1 to 4:15 p.m. (except April 14) until June 16. Taught by Alain Boudrias, architecte, this French-language course is a comprehensive overview of the construction specification profession. It offers understanding of the specifier’s role, legal issues including contracts, bidding and disputes, writing style used in documentation, and project close-out strategies. Continuing from where the Principles of Construction Documentation (PCD) course ends, the Specifier is a prerequisite for becoming a Certified Specification Practitioner (CSP). It also reduces the number of hours required to become a Registered Specification Writer (RSW).
