The CSC London Chapter invites design/construction professionals to participate on their field trip to Waterloo to visit Dr. John Straube and his Building Science Laboratories.
Space is filling quickly for the round-trip bus ride, organized for Thursday, Feb. 4, leaving the London Library’s Westmount Branch at 3:30 p.m., and returning at 9 p.m.
Straube, a word-renowned building science researcher (and Construction Canada author[1]) will discuss high-performance glazing, including changing energy code requirements, specific details for spandrel and shadow-box construction, and future glazing technologies. In addition to his presentation, participants will have a guided tour of the laboratory during which current building science research conducted at the lab will be highlighted. There will also be refreshments and time for informal Q&As.
For more details and to register, visit http://building-scienceroadtrip.eventbrite.ca[2] or e-mail the chapter’s Kees Govers[3].
In other London news, the chapter is hosting a talk with Imtiaz Shah, a stormwater management expert of the Upper Thames Conservation Authority on February 18. The event, which takes place at Saffron’s Culinary School Restaurant at Fanshawe College, will focus on low-impact development stormwater management, with an emphasis on a number of local Southwestern Ontario demonstration projects.
