Construction Specifications Canada (CSC) has launched and granted a chapter charter for the formation of the Okanagan Valley Chapter.

The Okanagan Valley region is defined by the basin of Lake Okanagan located in British Columbia’s southern interior. Its largest city, Kelowna, together with West Kelowna, is Canada’s fastest growing metropolitan area. According to Statistics Canada, the population grew to 222,162 in 2021, a 14 per cent increase since 2016. Vernon, 50 km (31 mi) to the north, and Penticton, 60 km (37 mi) to the south, are the region’s two other largest cities. According to the 2016 census, the region’s total population was 362,258 and is currently estimated to be close to 400,000.

With hundreds of architectural, engineering, design, and construction firms in the region, CSC determined the need to launch a new chapter to cater to the growing market, enabling the association to provide quality education, training, and professional development opportunities, and to further CSC’s goals and objectives as an organization servicing the design and construction industry.

“Until now, this region was largely underserved with the nearest CSC chapters located in Vancouver and Vancouver Island,” says Kazim Kanani, FCSC, CCCA, CSP, CDT, president of CSC. “Now, with the launch of the Okanagan Valley Chapter, design and construction professionals can access CSC’s world class education, training, and professional development opportunities without having to leave the region.”

The Okanagan Valley Chapter will be led by Tim Simpson who will serve as the chapter director and interim chair alongside Herb Guhl, FCSC, RSW, Ashley Foster, CTR, Mark Felt, CCCA, and Spencer Todd, CSP.

“Our goal is to successfully deliver to the Okanagan Valley region, boots on the ground, providing the local design and construction industry with networking, professional development, and education opportunities. We look forward to bringing to this region the same trusted resources that many in the industry take for granted elsewhere and look forward to becoming the trusted resource for the industry,” says Simpson.

Le début d’un nouveau chapiter—DCC inaugure la nouvelle section de l’Okanagan Valley

Devis de construction Canada (DCC) a le plaisir de lancer et d’accorder une charte de section pour la constitution de la section de l’Okanagan Valley.

La vallée de l’Okanagan est définie par le bassin du lac Okanagan situé dans l’intérieur sud de la Colombie-Britannique. Sa plus grande ville, Kelowna, est la région métropolitaine connaissant la croissance la plus rapide au Canada. Selon Statistique Canada, la population atteignait 222 162 personnes en 2021, soit une augmentation de 14 pour cent par rapport à 2016. Vernon, à 50 km (31 mi) au nord et Penticton, à 60 km (37 mi) au sud, sont les deux autres plus grandes villes de la région. Selon le recensement de 2016, la population totale de la région atteignait 362 258 habitants et on l’estime actuellement à près de 400 000 personnes.

Comptant plus de 100 cabinets d’architecture, d’ingénierie, de conception et de construction dans la région, DCC a conclu à la nécessité de lancer une nouvelle section afin de répondre aux besoins du marché croissant, nous permettant d’offrir des possibilités de cours de qualité, de formation et de perfectionnement professionnel et d’ainsi poursuivre nos buts et objectifs en tant qu’organisation au service de l’industrie de la conception et construction.

« Jusqu’à maintenant, cette région était vraiment mal desservie, la section la plus proche de DCC se trouvant à Vancouver et Vancouver Island », explique Kazim Kanani, FDCC, ACCC, PCD, CDT, président de DCC. « Mais maintenant, avec le lancement de la section de l’Okanagan Valley, les professionnels de la conception et de la construction pourront accéder aux possibilités de calibre international des cours, de la formation et du perfectionnement professionnel de DCC sans devoir quitter la région. »

La section de l’Okanagan Valley sera dirigée par Tim Simpson qui sera le directeur et président par intérim de la section, aux côtés de Herb Ghul, FDCC, RDA, Ashley Foster, RTC, Mark Felt, ACCC et Spencer Todd, PCD. « Notre objectif est de réussir à offrir à l’Okanagan Valley des ressources sur le terrain, offrant à l’industrie de la conception et de la construction des possibilités de réseautage, de perfectionnement professionnel et de formation. Nous sommes impatients de proposer à cette région les mêmes ressources que beaucoup dans l’industrie prennent aujourd’hui pour acquis, et de devenir leur ressource de confiance », indique le directeur de la section Tim Simpson.
