On Thursday, May 21, CSC’s Hamilton/Niagara Chapter is hosting a technical luncheon that delves into innovations with light-emitting diode (LED) technologies.
Leon Wasser, MBA, P.Eng. (Wasser Resources) and Gordon Xiao (Globe LED Lighting), will discuss energy-efficient and cost-effective lighting options for underground parking garages, service areas, and corridors. The talk will examines how some LED manufacturers are using short cuts to reduce costs, but also affecting the quality of the lighting and leading to the possibility of premature failure or fire hazards. Attendees will also learn about the various designation systems—from Underwriters Laboratories Canada (ULC) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) to Design Lighting Consortium (DLC) and EnergyStar—and the implications of their presence or absence.
The event, which includes lunch, takes place at the Royal Canadian Legion (828 Legion Rd.), in Burlington, Ont. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with the presentation ending by 2 p.m. Admission is $25 per person, payable at the door. (ATM onsite or cheques payable to CSC Hamilton/Niagara Chapter.)
