CSC Hamilton/Niagara offers talk on balanced acoustics

CSC’s Hamilton/Niagara Chapter is holding a discussion related to balanced building acoustics on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

Led by CGC’s Brian Dobbins, CTR, it will delve into subjects ranging from the physics of sound waves to challenges with adjacent rooms and open-plan spaces. Dobbins will discuss speech intelligibility and privacy, along with wall partitions, ceilings, and a range of metrics such as sound transmission class (STC), impact insulation class (IIC), and sound absorption average (SAA).

The event, which includes lunch, takes place at the Royal Canadian Legion (828 Legion Rd.), in Burlington, Ont. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with the presentation ending by 2 p.m. Admission is $25 per person, payable at the door. (ATM onsite or cheques payable to CSC Hamilton/Niagara Chapter.)
