CSC Edmonton examines everything EIFS

On February 2, the Edmonton Chapter of CSC is hosting a talk that examines how exterior insulation and finishing systems (EIFS) offer more than just a pretty face.

The breakfast presentation[1], led by Andre Turrin (DuRock Alfacing) will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Chateau Louis Hotel & Conference Centre.

The seminar addresses the four principal aspects of environmental separation applicable to EIFS—heat transfer, air leakage, vapour diffusion, and precipitation—along with the fire protection articles applicable to the cladding assembly, most notably non-combustible construction, spatial separation, and exposure protection. Turring will also address design and detailing considerations with special attention to interfaces with other building elements, termination points, expansion joints, and drainage. He will explore impact resistance, esthetic reveals, and decorative mouldings, before offering an outline of the EQI EIFS Quality Assurance Program (QAP), an initiative of the EIFS Council of Canada (ECC).
