The Edmonton Chapter of CSC is partnering with the Glass Trades Association of Northern Alberta/Provincial Glaziers Association of Alberta (PGAA) to present a winter workshop exploring the North American Fenestration Standard (NAFS) and the 2014 Alberta Building Code.
The province’s code requires use of NAFS (and its Canadian supplement) when specifying fenestration products and determining their performance requirements. Unfortunately, NAFS does not always apply to all fenestration materials and the supplement is not always the most appropriate way to determine the Performance Grades. To this end, the seminar focuses on how these standard are referenced in Parts 5 and 9, aimed at helping attendees understand appropriate uses and limitations.
The March 1 event kicks off at the Executive Hotel Royal (10010 178 Street) with a 10:30 a.m. reception, and includes a buffet lunch. The discussion itself will be led by Al Jaugelis, a fenestration expert with RDH.
To register for the talk, which has been approved for two self-directed education credits with the Alberta Association of Architects (AAA), visit edmonton.csc-dcc.ca. Online registration is $50, ($60 at the door) with sponsorship opportunities available.
