Construction of the Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital, a 1000-bed facility to treat patients showing symptoms of the deadly coronavirus was completed on Sunday in Wuhan, China. Reports say it took just 10 days to build from start to finish.
Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital was made out of prefabricated buildings similar to the Xiaotangshan SARS hospital built in Beijing in 2003 for the SARS outbreak.
According to the Associated Press, the 60,000-m2 (645,000-sf) hospital spans two floors. The structure includes prefabricated rooms, with various segments stretching out from one centrepiece.
The Huoshenshan Hospital was built by a 7000-member crew of carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and other specialists who were brought in from all around the country, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
The virus has already killed more than 400 people and infected over 20,000 others. The hospital started taking in its first patients on Monday.
A second hospital with an additional 1500 beds in Wuhan is set to be completed later this week.
