Work recently began on Gladstone Village, a multiphase development that will, in its first stage, introduce 336 new affordable homes to Ottawa.

Undertaken by Ottawa Community Housing (OCH), this development marks a significant milestone in OCH’s commitment to expanding affordable housing and setting new sustainability and community integration standards.

Designed by Diamond Schmitt, in collaboration with KWC Architects and with Pomerleau Construction as the general contractor (GC), Gladstone Village Phase 1 will feature various housing options, including mid-rise residential buildings and low-rise townhomes.

The residence has been designed to encourage interaction between residents through enhanced amenity spaces and outdoor terraces. It also aims to establish connections with the surrounding neighbourhood and the upcoming LRT line.

The development will adhere to Passive House standards and be district energy-ready. It will feature high-efficiency heating and cooling systems and wastewater heat recovery.

As funding allows, the development aims to build up to 1,100 new homes within five years.
