Designed by CLOU Architects, Starry Street Wuhou in Chengdu, China, offers a symbiotic three-body spatial system connecting living, retail, and social spaces in the community.

Completed and opened at the end of 2020, Starry Street is in the newly planned Wuhou District of southwest Chengdu. It is adjacent to the intersection of two main roads, plus two new metro lines connecting residents of the area directly with the office and industrial park.

CLOU’s design aims to connect the living, retail, and social spaces into a symbiotic “three-body spatial system.” The project is divided into three levels, interwoven from bottom to top. Retail space is on the first and second floor, while the upper level is a residential area with windows facing streets and open views.

Residential, social, and retail spaces

The south and north areas of the project feature Small Office, Home Office (SOHO) apartments, an outdoor basketball court, urban farm, pop-up stores, and landscaped steps.

The multi-layered public space provides residents with solutions for a healthy lifestyle, social interaction, and   spending time in nature.

Futuristic Urban Living

The north entrance along the street draws people in with landscaped steps, rain sheds, and hollow glass banquet centers. CLOU breaks the spatial definition of the outdoor steps at the entrance, extending the size of the rain shed and the buildings on both sides.

Entering the courtyard surrounded by the residential towers, community urban life is connected by upward vertical circulation. The sunken plaza, which accommodates supermarkets and restaurants, coincides with the second floor’s programs, such as cinema, live performance stage, and pop-up event space.

The southern block includes amenities like a gym, outdoor basketball, and urban farm. The area extending to the north block features activities including an IMAX cinema, karaoke bars, restaurants, and event gathering space.
