One of Canada’s largest privately owned consulting engineering firms, CIMA+, has selected Denis Thivierge as their next president and CEO, citing his 25-plus years of experience in consulting engineering.

Thivierge joined CIMA+ in 2007 as vice-president of the buildings sector for the Metropolitan Montreal region before becoming a partner in 2008. He was given additional responsibilities in 2016, as director of the Montreal office and member of the executive committee. Since fall 2019, Thivierge has served as chief operating officer (COO), while also assuming the role of interim chief financial officer (CFO).

Effective August 1, Thivierge will replace Francois Plourde, who will be retiring at the end of 2022, after eight years at the head of CIMA+ and 33 years with the firm. Until then, Plourde will remain in place to ensure a smooth transition for the new CEO, while continuing to manage the company in the normal course of business.

“I would like to thank the board of directors, the shareholders, and outgoing president Francois Plourde for the confidence they have shown in me. I look forward to taking on this new challenge with the support of a strong management team to help carry out this mission,” said Thivierge. “Under Francois’ leadership, CIMA+ has made significant progress through organic growth and successful targeted acquisitions. We are now one of the largest consulting engineering firms in Canada, with over 30 offices across the country and a diverse team of over 2800 employees, half of whom are shareholders. I intend to continue to grow the company by pursuing an approach similar to that of Francois.”
