CSC Calgary explores wood construction

On January 9, the Calgary Chapter of CSC will hold a dinner meeting on “Wood Construction and the ABC” at The Winston from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Rory Koska from the Canadian Wood Council is slated to provide a brief update on mid-rise construction in Alberta and British Columbia, as well as touch upon tall wood construction. The chapter is also offering the Construction Contract Administrator (CCA) course. Starting on January 18, the program runs for nine weeks at the Calgary office of S2 Architecture from 6 to 9 p.m.

Edmonton focuses on education and curling

On January 8, the Edmonton Chapter of CSC will begin its Specifier (SP) and Technical Representative (TR) courses. Running from 6 to 9 p.m., the 15-week Specifier course will be held at Stantec and the 11-week TR program will be at Stoncor Group. The Chapter is also hosting a curling social. On January 18, it is hosting the 2018 CSC YEG Curling Funspiel at the Shamrock Curling Club. The event, which includes dinner, runs from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Networking night for CSC Edmonton

On Thursday, November 23, the Edmonton Chapter is hosting a networking night at Metro Billiards from 5:30 to 8 p.m. MST. The Chapter is also organizing a breakfast meeting on December 14. Nick Trovato (Read Jones Christoffersen) will present on “Building Envelopes: What could possibly go wrong?”

CSC Calgary explores LEED

On Tuesday, November 14, the Calgary Chapter of CSC is organizing a dinner meeting on the latest version (v4) of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. Lindsey Dru, BID, LEED AP (Herman Miller), will provide an overview of the rating system by using the Canada Green Building Council’s (CaGBC’s) Vancouver office project as an example.
