Earlier this month, the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) announced the winners of the annual Awards of Excellence.

This year, 15 projects from across Canada were honoured with awards recognizing design, research, and management accomplishments. Winners are selected by a jury of experts both regionally and nationally, in three categories—Honour, Merit, and Citations.

This year’s National Honour winners include:

  • Toronto’s Dundas Street West Parkettes (Fung Lee, PMA Landscape Architects);
  • Calgary’s The Landscape of Memory: Poppy Plaza (Dave Spencer, Stantec Consulting, and Marc Boutin of architectural collaborative ); and
  • Montréal’s Les promenades urbaines (Marie-Claude Séguin, Ville de Montréal, and Direction des grands parcs et du verdissement).

“The winners of the 2014 CSLA Awards of Excellence demonstrate a high degree of technical knowledge, creativity, and positive impact on our communities and everyday lives,” CSLA executive director, Michelle Legault, told Construction Canada Online. “Whether a park, memorial, streetscape, or recreational trail, these projects are a testament to landscape architects stewardship of our outdoor spaces.”
