The founder of Guelph, Ont.-based Evolve Builders Group, manufacturer of portable classrooms, took part in a week-long event in Poland focused on bringing together environmentally focused suppliers.

In total, 14 representatives from Canada were invited by the Polish government and European Union to participate to promote green businesses in the country. Evolve’s founder Ben Polley, attended networking events for the Canadian supplier representatives and Polish and other European suppliers, including POKELO—a business-to-business trade fair of environmental protection firms in Eastern Europe.

“The POLEKO trade show provided a glimpse into our (North American) future,” Polley told Construction Canada Online. “Residential scale biomass heaters, insulating foam board formed not of plastic but of wood pulp and blown with CO2, and prefabricated Passive House homes were prominent. Evolve Builders will certainly be borrowing from some of these ideas and potentially importing some unique products in order to beat the Canadian market to this eventual future.”
