To transition to cleaner, low-carbon energy, 83 new wind turbines will be installed in Alberta across 7,081 ha (17,500 acres) of land.

The new Buffalo Plains Wind Farm project is nearing its commercial operation date, which is when the facility will start to generate power.

The facility will generate clean energy enough to supply more than 100,000 homes, helping reduce emissions and avoiding the addition of 721,211 tonnes (795,000 tons) of CO2 to the atmosphere annually.

The project will create up to 300 construction jobs and 10 to 15 permanent local jobs. It will also create supply chain opportunities for local businesses and companies, as well as contract opportunities during construction and operation.

The project aims to transition Canada toward cleaner energy and becoming a more energy-stable country.
