The winners of Brampton’s Urban Design Awards program have been announced, honouring the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) city’s top projects.
Chosen by a jury of industry experts and city officials, accolades were given out to architects, landscape architects, planners, and building owners in categories including:
- New Institutional Building;
- Most Promising Project;
- Best New Neighbourhood; and
- Healthy and Sustainable Development.
To be considered eligible for an award, projects must be in the municipality of Brampton’s boundaries, demonstrate design innovation, and adhere to the city’s design guidelines.
One of the 2012 winners in the New Institutional Building category is Maclennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects for the Chinguacousy Park Renewal. This project includes a new clubhouse, outdoor sport complex, and skateboard park, in addition to a renovated tennis/curling club facility. Landscaping design was used to create a pedestrian pathway linking the new spaces.
