Kindrachuk Agrey Architecture[2]’s (KAA’s) studio in Saskatoon, Sask., has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification from the Canada Green Building Council[3] (CaGBC).

Their space is the first in Saskatchewan to reach the highest level of certification available in the ‘commercial interiors’ category from the LEED sustainable design program.

The certification is the result of an integrative design and construction process that focused on the themes of context, collaboration, and sustainability, the firm said.

KAA created a workplace embodying a fresh identity and progressive environmental stewardship.

“A healthy workplace that provides choice for the staff was paramount in establishing a strong precedent for professional office design in the province,” said Derek Kindrachuk, firm principal.

Planning took advantage of active design principles to create a dynamic workplace while focusing on key sustainable initiatives to reduce the project’s environmental impact.

“Goals were met by planning and intelligent design first, then by technology if necessary,” said Bertrand Bartake, project architect.
