Construction Canada is pleased to announce the finalists of the inaugural Emerging Leader Awards presented by Engineered Assemblies[2]. The awards will recognize young professionals for excellence in design, leadership, initiative, and/or service to the community.
Nominated by a member or members of their team, the finalists were selected by a jury of peers.
The finalists in the ‘Demonstrates Initiative’ category are Kazim Kanani, CSP, CCCA, senior associate, specification specialist at Quadrangle Architects[3] and Samantha Lane, CEM, CPHD, LEED AP, P.Eng., building performance engineer at Stantec Consulting[4].
Heather Barnsley, AAA, at Ti STUDIOS Architecture[5] and Jesse X. Watson, CET, specification writer at Number Ten Architectural Group[6] have selected in the ‘Demonstrates Leadership’ category.
David Carnovale, P.Eng., project manager at WSP Canada[7] and Mark Gaglione, P.Eng., building & material sciences specialist at EllisDon Construction[8] were chosen in the ‘Demonstrates Teamwork’ category.
Finalists in the ‘Technology Advancement’ category are Claudio Nunez, architect & associate at Menkes Shooner Dagenais LeTourneux Architectes[9] and Kelly Fisher, CPHC, director of building information modeling (BIM) and building performance at Kearns Mancini Architects[10].
For the ‘Community Contribution’ category, Emma Cubitt, principal at Invizij Architects[11] and
Geoff Scott, P.Eng., CAHP, senior associate at Ojdrovic Engineering Inc.[12] were selected.
Deborah Byrne, C.Eng., MIEI, CPHD, COO of Kearns Mancini Architects Inc.[13] and current board chair of Passive House Canada[14] and Kevin Pickwick, AScT, P.Eng., LEED AP, CCCA, associate of RJC Engineers[15] were selected in the ‘Industry Contribution’ category.
The winners will be announced at the Buildings Show[16] on December 4 at 4 p.m. at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (south demo area).
