Registration is open for this year’s Construction Specifications Canada (CSC) Conference in Winnipeg.
The event, held from May 27 to 31, will bring design/construction professionals from across the continent to the banks of the Assiniboine and Red Rivers for an event promising to “stimulate, motivate, educate, and entertain” delegates.
Before things ‘officially’ get under way, there will be a special pre-conference tour of the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, allowing delegates to get a special behind-the-scenes glimpse of the building featured in the May 2014 issue of Construction Canada.
The tour takes place Wednesday, May 27, at 2 p.m., with preregistered attendees meeting at the lobby of the Delta Winnipeg Hotel at 1:30 p.m. Since space is extremely limited, delegates (and companions) wanting to participate should contact the CSC Conference Committee as soon as possible by e-mailing Brad Cove.
Later that day, the conference kicks off with a Welcome Reception, allowing attendees to network and mingle, strengthening old bonds and creating new ones in a relaxed, social environment. Other opportunities for this will be found at the Connections Café the next night, when there will also be a chance to learn about cutting-edge new products from the show sponsors. (For more information on sponsoring or having a display at the conference, click here.)
The event’s technical committee has created an outstanding line-up of technical sessions, consisting of informative topics and speakers to accommodate various interests. Sessions include:
- “Building Information Modelling (BIM): The Legalities;”
- “Air Leakage in Buildings: Recent Research and Developments in Codes, Standards, and Commissioning Protocols;”
- “Evolving Changes to Canadian Construction Documents Committee (CCDC) Documents;”
- “Specifying Smarter Building Skins to Achieve Code Energy Use Intensity Targets;”
- “Buildings That Connect with Nature: Two Specifications, One Outcome;” and
- “Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for the Construction Industry: Sustainable Product Labeling has Finally Arrived.”
Additionally, there will be a special guest speaker—comedian Dean Jenkinson—and the always-anticipated Fun Night and President’s Ball.
