CSC Hamilton discusses wireless controls

On Thursday, November 20, CSC’s Hamilton/Niagara Chapter is presenting a luncheon discussion on retrofitting wireless controls for buildings.

The technical talk, led by Leon Wasser, P.Eng., delves into how the functionality of a full-scale building automation system (BAS) can be added to conventional buildings. The proprietary systems discussed are fully modular and incorporate wireless thermostats, humidistats, occupancy controls, and other radio-enabled sensors. Field readings are sent back to a control centre where one can program all building system responses, including creation of daily, weekly, monthly, and annual schedules for turning on and off lights, fans, and other power loads.

Wasser has been responsible for various educational, hospital, retail, industrial, energy, and high-rise commercial development projects and operations across Canada. He was part of the senior management team at Toronto’s York University for 18 years, during which time he was facility planner for the main campus, co-ordinating campus construction and being involved in facility and business operations.

The talk, along with lunch, takes place at the Royal Canadian Legion (828 Legion Rd.), in Burlington, Ont. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with the presentation ending by 2 p.m. Admission is $25 per person, payable at the door. (ATM onsite or cheques payable to CSC Hamilton/Niagara Chapter.)

The Ontario Association of Architects (OAA)-accredited course provides one Continuing Education System (CES) learning unit credit. For more information, contact Terry Johnson, FCSC.
