CSC Edmonton: e-procurement and reverse auctions

On Tuesday, September 9, the Edmonton Chapter of CSC is hosting a morning meeting examining suppliers’ benefits and challenges with respect to e-procurement and reverse auctions.

Many companies are using online reverse auctions to procure everything from raw materials and transportation services to engineered parts, springs, and moulded plastics. By forcing suppliers to bid for contracts, such auctions can produce dramatic reductions in the cost of supplies. An owner or tenant that has already procured materials through this service may mean construction specifiers and contractors have to work around it, and provide a fair and ethical process for all.

Eugene Duynstee (KPM Enterprises) will be providing a talk and discussion on e-procurement and reverse auctions, his perspective on the impact from a supplier/ vendor perspective, and his experiences in Canada to date. The session’s goal is to inform participants about this new technology and its benefits, as well as the impact it may have on their business. Registration is $28 (+GST) and can be done online until September 2.

The event takes place from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Chateau Louis Conference Centre (11727 Kingsway NW). For more information, contact Jeff Halashewski at jhalashewski@dialogdesign.ca.
