Ground has broken on the first phase of SickKids’ new campus redevelopment project in Toronto, known as Project Horizon. This phase will create the Patient Support Centre (PSC), a new 22-storey educational, training, and administrative tower.

The PSC will house SickKids Learning Institute, a simulation centre for hands-on teaching, bright, modern workspaces for professionals, management, and support staff, as well as collaboration and activity areas accessible to all staff from across the campus.

The second and third phases include the Peter Gilgan Family Patient Care Tower, which will house critical care and inpatient units, and renovations to other areas of the existing campus to support new and renovated outpatient clinics.

“As we build a new SickKids, we are defining a new approach to paediatric medicine using precision child health to diagnose and then treat our individual patients,” said Dr. Ronald Cohn, president of SickKids. “Today, we celebrate a major step forward in our journey to transform care delivery for children.”
