New fire-resistant designs announced

The Gypsum Association released the 20th edition GA-600, Fire Resistance Design Manual (FRDM). Since the first version in 1958, the manual has become the standard industry reference for architects, design professionals, builders, drywall contractors, and the building code enforcement community. In addition to the fire-resistant sound-controlling designs incorporating gypsum board, the new FRDM includes sections addressing strain-relief systems, and the protection of wood and steel column and beam systems. The manual has more than 150 new designs in total, including several 30-minute wall systems, and a 45-minute floor/ceiling system.
